Colt Starting & Training

Are you looking to train your colt on the basic fundamentals & want to grow them into a high performing competition horse? Look no further than our starting & training program!

Our Services

  • Colt Starting

With our colt starting program we focus on softness in the head & control of every quarter of the body (shoulders, ribs, hips). Our goal with every horse is to be able to walk, trot, lope, and cover hills in 30 rides. Exposure to tarps, logs, ropes, water etc. With more rides we expect more.

  • Halter Breaking

We believe in halter breaking that a horse should be soft to the lead rope, flex both ways and soften to your hands and give the face and stand tied quietly, we prefer to only halter break weanlings and yearlings. But will halter break older horses if needed.

  • Cowhorse Training

This takes a lot of training that takes a few years to accomplish with a horse. We can discuss this over the phone is someone desires their horse to go this route.

  • Barrel Horse Training

I have over 10 years of experience hauling and training barrel horses, horses need to have a minimum of 90 days riding before I will start patterning one. We can start from the ground up if you desire. But I require a minimum of 90 days riding before I will pattern one. We can begin as early as 3 year old and aim for futurity as a 4 or 5 year old. Or just get your horse patterned for you to take on and haul yourself. I require a minimum of 30 days to pattern and a minimum of 60 days to pattern and haul for you. My barrel horse training is slow and correct, working on shoulder control, rate, leads, etc.

  • Ranch Work

(This is a broad discussion) but we live on a ranch, we have cattle to work in the spring and fall during calving, branding, preconditioning, pulling bulls, etc. We work in alleys, out in the hills, branding pen, doctoring, we will take broke horses and just put miles on them on the ranch if a person desires.
